3 Healthy meal ideas to help rebalance your Root Chakra

Your Root Chakra is located at the base of your spine and supports our entire foundation. It represents the connection to Mother Earth, feeling grounded and your sense of security and stability. Many people struggle with their root chakra in terms of feeling physically present in their body, over thinking and living too much in their mind. If you experience fight or flight mode, it is very possible that your Root Chakra is imbalanced. This chakra can also be imbalanced through being physically disconnected with the earth, being ‘uprooted’. Consider when you go on a long flight, it often takes a while to re ground and re settle into your new environment.

Practices such as walks in nature, going barefoot, meditating or ’I am’ mantras can all help us reconnect and feel more present. Another way to rebalance is by consuming foods which are associated with healing the chakras.

Some foods are associated with the chakra due to colour (red for the Root Chakra), others have a further meaning such as their placement when they grow. For example, the Root Chakra can be benefited by consuming root vegetables. Vegetables that grow in the ground have the energy of the earth. These vegetables contain high amounts of of vitamins and minerals from the soil which are then passed to you.

Below are some easily customisable meal ideas which include foods associated with the Root Chakra.

Breakfast

A simple breakfast which is easy to prepare in advance and can be modified to keep things interesting is overnight oats. Simply mix some oats with your milk of choice and add in flavourings such as cinnamon or vanilla. To help balance the root chakra we recommend grating in some fresh red apples. Add some protein rich almonds, which will activate over nights and a sprinkle of chia seeds to your mix and pop it in the fridge until the morning. When you are ready for breakfast, top your oats with red berries and pomegranate seeds to create the perfect morning Root Chakra boost.

Lunch

For lunch why not create a healthy, root chakra friendly salad. We personally love love a fresh beetroot salad with shaved carrots, radishes, arugula, goats cheese and a sprinkle of pumpkin seeds.

Dinner

For dinner try some delicious loaded sweet potatoes. Experiment with earthy toppings such as beans, chickpeas, paprika and tomatoes to create a wholesome dish with grounding benefits.
